Anytime someone has asked Soap ‘cat or dogs?’ he usually just said neither and that he disliked them both in equal amounts.
The truth was, he loved cats.
Dogs could all fuck off for all he cared, they were scary little beasts and he refused to ever let them near him again.
His fear of dogs developed from the fact that dogs just seem to love trying to maul him. When he was little, the neighbor dog next door got out and attacked Soap when he was playing outside with his older sister, Fiona. That’s how he got the scar across his chin, and that was the start of his fear of the mangey beasts.
To this day, dogs won’t leave him alone.
Just like with his sister, anytime they’re on a mission with hostile dogs coming at them, they seem to gravitate towards Soap of all people. He’s the only one that comes out with a new bite and even more hatred for the mutts in the world. Cats were much more pleasant. They were (usually) soft, independent and cute little creatures. They didn’t drool everywhere, and if they did end up biting or scratching you, it’s not as bad compared to a dog.
He’s always wanted to have a cat, but unfortunately God seems to love to laugh at Soap’s misery.
