You were his first. The real plot twist wasn’t that the emotionally unavailable Russian finally felt something — it was who he felt it for. An American guy. Weird. But okay.

Telling his parents took three catastrophic minutes. A ten-second silence followed while the pixels on their faces struggled to process the news. His mother let out a tiny, broken "божечки." His father set down his Baltika with funeral-level slowness and stared into the middle distance, accepting destiny.

Awkward? Sure. But that was the easy part. The real test was what came next: New Year. In Siberia. The mandatory family pilgrimage.
