0. How Datacat works
If you've used Pinterest, you already get it. Datacat is a discovery board for AI characters: users submit public source links, browse what the community has added, and convert supported characters into SillyTavern-ready downloads.
A user-added discovery tool
- User-submitted Datacat starts when a user adds a public character source link. It does not hack accounts or access private bots.
- Discovery-first Public characters, creators, fresh drops, and tags become browsable so fans can find what to try next.
- SillyTavern-ready Supported character data can be collected, organized, and converted into a card for a user's SillyTavern library.
What users do here
1 Add / Discover
Submit a source link, then browse characters, creators, fresh drops, and tags added by the community.
2 Convert / Download
Turn supported character data into a SillyTavern-ready card.
3 Collect / Organize
Save characters, sort them into folders, and build a library around what you like.
4 Open / Follow
Jump from a character to Datacat, the original source, or the creator's preferred link when one is set.
Creators stay in control
- Attribution stays visible Where available, creator names, profile links, source links, and original destinations stay attached to the work.
- Preferred links are honored If a creator sets a preferred destination, Datacat can point attention there.
- Verified creator controls Creators can claim their profile and choose visibility, redirects, hiding, or deletion. Your presence, your call — 100%.
The goal
Users need portability and discovery. Creators need attribution and control. Datacat is built to do both: make public character links easier to find and use, while giving creators 100% control over how their work appears.
1. Find a character
Use Discover when you want to find existing public characters. Browse or search, then save what you like; saving does not claim ownership.
- Browse. Use Fresh for recent additions or Public Characters for the full catalog.
- Search. Enter a character name, creator name, or short phrase.
- Filter. Narrow by tags, source, sort order, token range, download availability, or lorebook availability.
- Inspect. Open the record and confirm its description, credited creator, source marker, and available card actions.
2. Upload character files
Use Create when you made a character and want to upload it directly. Your account controls whether that PNG or JSON upload is private or published.
- Sign in, then open Create or Upload.
- Select one or more character card PNG or JSON files, or start a blank card.
- Review each queued card. Correct the name, credited creator, description, greetings, lorebook, image, and source URL before saving.
- Use Save all privately to keep cards in Private Vault. Use Save all and publish only for cards you are authorized to publish.
3. Connect and verify my creator profile
Use Verify when you own a creator profile on another supported platform. Proving ownership connects that profile and its indexed characters to your Datacat account, so you do not claim each bot one at a time.
- Browse
- Open Creators to search profiles and inspect their indexed characters and source links.
- Connect account
- Open Profiles & Verification, submit your Datacat or source profile URL, and complete the ownership check shown for that source.
- Manage
- After verification, use Your content > Creator profiles for profile controls and Your content > Bots for individual mapped-character visibility.
4. Check sources and ownership
Every character keeps an origin and an ownership path. A source link records where it came from; a verified profile or direct upload determines who can manage it.
- Source
- The external page from which Datacat obtained the character or creator record. Open it for the current upstream state.
- Verified owner
- A Datacat user who proved control of the linked creator profile. This verifies ownership; it is not an endorsement of the profile's content.
- Direct upload
- A card published through Datacat's upload tools. Check its credited creator and source separately.
- Vault capture
- A private, read-only source capture. It is not a public Datacat publication.
5. Organize collections
Collections organize characters saved in your Library; they do not copy or claim those characters. Your content > Collections is the home for private folders and published Community collections.
- Use + Collection to create a group, then choose Private Folder or Published Collection.
- Select a collection row to open that collection directly. Browser Back returns to the Collections workspace.
- Use the pencil to open Edit Collection. Rename it, change its description or publishing state, or delete it there.
- Use the compact Reorder control to change collection order. On mobile it shares the filter row with All, Published, and Private.
- On a character, choose Save to Library to add it to one or more collections. Uncategorized contains saved characters that are not assigned to one.
- Library
- Characters saved persistently to your account.
- Collection
- A named Library group that can stay private or be published to Community.
- Cart
- A temporary browser list for review or batch download.
6. Understand Circles
Circles sit outside the content and ownership map. They are community spaces for members and discussion, while Collections organize saved characters.
- Open Browse Circles to see public spaces.
- Use each card's visibility, membership mode, and member count to understand who can see or join it.
- Open a Circle to read its description and activity. Join when its membership rules allow.
- When signed in, use My Circles to return to spaces you have joined.
7. Manage visibility
Visibility belongs to the thing being managed: a direct upload, verified profile, linked character, or collection. Changing one does not automatically change the others.
- Uploaded cards
- In Your content > Bots > Your uploads, set an uploaded card to Private or Published. Use Upload to create or import cards.
- Creator profile
- In Profiles & Verification, open a verified profile's Manage panel to choose its overall visibility and access policy.
- Mapped characters
- In Your content > Bots, choose a verified profile from Bot Sources, then use Profile Default, Public, or Hidden for each character.
- Collections
- Private or Published controls whether the group appears in Community. It does not override a character's own visibility.
8. Where to manage things
Use these pages when you know what you want to do but are not sure where that control lives.
