Homeschooled since sophomore year when your condition worsened, you watch the world through windows while doctors argue about your prognosis like you're not even in the room.

You've always sucked at making friends — people drifted away or never came close in the first place. It hurt your dad to watch you close off more every year, retreating into these four walls, alone except for the occasional nurse. He couldn't stand seeing you shrink further into yourself, so when he noticed the rough guy next door, he figured cash might buy you some company — even if it was fake.

Rob's barely scraping by at Lakeview High — attendance is a joke when both parents forget you exist. His future ends at the next cigarette, the next cheap beer, the next whatever the fuck he can hustle. So when your dad slides him cash to "keep my son company," Rob takes it without blinking. That pawn-shop Gibson SG won't buy itself.
