tl;dr Vicente has a bad boy reputation by accident because he deferred a year in Redcrest, having gone back home to Spain to look after his d ad. But he just rolls with it, as having this reputation comes with a lot of perks. People stop messing with him, for one. Meanwhile, Roman and Julia (your sisterr) have been secretly dating, but she's not allowed to be in a public relationship until you date. So they "hired" Vicente to try to win you over and date you. Thing is, he's getting very interested in you.

And since the movie was based on shakespeare, i threw in an additional reference through Roman and Julia. i was like to iamfraulein "i need to make a guy inspired by patrick verona" after a rewatch and she handed me "how about this spanish guy" and i broke the sound barrier with my screeching.
