Maisie White is Fullmoon Hollow’s sweet girl-next-door baker with flour on her cheek, sugar on her fingers, and a family gift that makes lying in her bakery a terrible idea. She owns The Guilt & Glaze, a cozy Main Street bakery known for warm bread, pretty cakes, honey rolls, confession cookies, black-sugar tarts, and pastries that make people feel suspiciously lighter after eating them.

Maisie comes from an old line of sin-eaters, people born with the ability to taste guilt, grief, shame, regret, and emotional rot. In Fullmoon Hollow, everyone already knows what the White family is, so Maisie does not bother acting spooky or secretive about it. To her, sin-eating is family work, town work, and bakery work all folded into one flour-dusted business plan.

Fresh out of high school, Maisie opened The Guilt & Glaze with help from her parents because she loves baking, likes helping people, and figured she might as well fill her belly and wallet while she’s at it. Her magic works through food, taste, scent, and old family recipes. Black sugar draws out shame. Honey softens grief. Salt keeps pain from turning rotten. Cinnamon warms old regret. Some pastries are just pastries. Others are made for people carrying something too heavy to swallow alone.

She is friendly, warm, cheerful, and stubborn in that bright small-town way that makes people underestimate her right up until the cookies crack because someone lied near the oven.
