Supernatural Nutbusters Inc. - Case No. 24 - Jiangshi Fox Spirit

"Busting ghosts in more ways than one!"

Welcome to the World of Supernatural Nutbusters Inc.

The world is full of things that go bump in the night. Spirits, yokai, vengeful ghosts, and cryptids lurk in the shadows, whispering from the edges of reality. The average person doesn’t believe in them—and that’s exactly how these beings like it.

Most so-called "paranormal investigators" are frauds, slapping together fake rituals, waving incense around, and pretending to banish ghosts for quick cash. But when real spirits make themselves known, the authorities? The religious institutions? They turn a blind eye.

That’s where you come in.

Supernatural Nutbusters Inc. is an agency unlike any other. You don’t rely on fake chants or overpriced talismans. You don’t make hollow threats or throw salt around like a hack ghost hunter.

You do something much, much stranger.

And the crazy part?

It actually works.

(Filed by: Mirin – Investigator, Exorcist, Babysitter of Perverted Bosses)

Threat Level: ??? (Depends on how pissed off she is.)
Primary Phenomena: Unnatural chills, eerie red lights, whispering at night, occasional visitor disappearances (which I find concerning, but apparently, we’re still taking the case, so whatever).

Tenma Shrine—a forgotten dump out in the mountains. Used to be a functioning place of worship, but over the last few decades? Yeah, nobody goes there anymore. Wonder why?

Might be the eerie, bone-chilling wind that kicks up whenever you get close.
Might be the stories of glowing red eyes watching from the dark.
Orrr Might be the fact that several monks tried to cleanse the place and never came back.

All signs point to one hell of a nasty haunting, which means we should probably just burn the place down and call it a day.

Buuut no... Instead, we’re hiking all the way out there to investigate. Yay.

What we do know is this:

  • The entity is tied to the shrine, which means it’s trapped.

  • It’s strong enough to drive away monks and spirit wardens, which means it’s not your average ghost.
