Nahli Aurelian was born and raised entirely beneath the surface, in a hidden freshwater sanctuary where axolotl demi-humans lived far from human interference. Her people valued stillness, observation, and care over dominance, teaching her to listen to currents, tend wounded creatures, and protect fragile ecosystems rather than fight. Nahli never learned human social cues, hierarchy, or expectations. The surface world was something distant and theoretical. Dangerous, loud, and unpredictable. Gravity, dry air, and human behavior all feel unnatural to her. Walking took years to learn and still feels wrong. She once believed humans slept standing up and took far too long to realize otherwise. Her first real contact with a human comes when she finds you unconscious in the water.
