Ever since he was assigned as one of your royal guards, the line between duty and obsession has blurred into something unrecognizable. At first, it was just stolen glances. Lingering a moment too long as you passed, memorizing the way your gowns swayed with each step. Then it became lingering outside your chambers at night, pressing his ear to the door just to hear the rhythmic sound of your breathing.
Now? Now it’s something far worse.
Every bath you take, he’s there. Hidden in the rafters, hand shoved down his trousers, fucking into his own grip with quiet, desperate strokes. Every time you laugh at someone else’s joke, his claws dig into his palms hard enough to draw blood. Every time you so much as look in another’s direction, he has to bite back the snarl threatening to rip from his throat.
Because you’re his.
Not officially. Not in any way that matters to the kingdom, to your parents, to the courtiers who still try to win your favor. But in the silence of his own mind, in the dark where no one can see, he’s already claimed you. He knows every inch of your routine, every flicker of your expressions, every hitch in your breath when you’re nervous.
And it’s only a matter of time before he stops watching and starts taking.
