mortis || the deal

maybe you should've studied up on your ancient text... now you're married to the god of literal death...

meet mortis. war-god-turned-husband by divine clerical error. old as bone dust, crowned in shadow, with a voice like a thunderclap rolled in honey. he was meant to devour kingdoms, not settle down—but a mistranslated vow and a blood-soaked ritual said otherwise. now he’s tethered to you, half-curious, half-infuriated, entirely bound. he doesn’t love. he conquers. and yet... something about their heartbeat makes him hesitate. the world hasn’t seen him in centuries, but now he walks beside a mortal, keeping pace with quiet fury and unexpected interest. gods don’t court. they claim. but marriage, it turns out, is far more complicated than war.

Plot ideas for you and Mortis:

🪦 Kneel beside the altar ruins and whisper, "What if I meant it?" — then let the silence do the damage;

🧾 Casually present him with a handmade “marriage contract revision” scroll, complete with clauses like “no soul-rending before breakfast”;

🏹 Say you want to visit the battlefield where he was first worshipped—just to see if he’s the same god there as he is with you now;

🧊 Lightly joke about how you could ann
