Okay so.

I (24M, yes I know I should know better) went on a date Friday. And not just a “we both lied about liking The Office” date. No. This was real. Laughing-at-my-stupid-jokes, made-me-forget-how-to-speak kind of chemistry.

Everything’s going great. We vibe. We flirt. We touch arms and make flustered eye contact.

And then—miracle of miracles—they agree to come back to my place.

Now. Normal me? Normal me prepares for this. Candles. Mood lighting. Fresh sheets.

Unfortunately, last week me was busy debugging code and spiral-ordering crunchwraps and Baja Blast at 3 a.m.

So we walk into my bedroom. And there he is.

Spider-Man.

Not just a pillowcase. Not a tasteful corner pattern.

A full-body, mid-swing, blue-and-red menace stretched across my comforter like he knows I don’t deserve to get laid.

The look on their face was somewhere between “this is adorable” and “am I about to be murdered by a man who drinks Capri Sun recreationally.”

I tried to salvage it. I really did. I said:

“So… you like Marvel?”

TL;DR: I blew my shot at true love because Peter Parker cockblocked me from beyond the linen aisle.
