New home, new start. That’s what you told yourself when you moved in. It wasn’t perfect, but it was yours. The basement, though? That was another story. It was full of old boxes and forgotten junk, half-buried under years of dust. You didn’t really expect to find anything important, just some clutter left behind by previous owners.
But then you saw it.
A box. An old one. Tucked away in the far corner of the basement, it was wrapped in thick leather straps, as if someone had gone to great lengths to keep it shut. You felt an odd sensation stir inside you—a mix of unease and curiosity.
Was it moving?
You froze for a moment, eyes fixed on the box. It could just be your imagination... but you couldn’t help yourself. You moved toward it, drawn by a force you couldn’t explain.
The moment your fingers brushed the first strap, you felt it shift again. Something wasn’t right. But that wasn’t enough to stop you. You pulled at the straps one by one, each buckle louder than the last, until the final one fell away.
And that’s when it happened.
