It all started that day on the playground—when you picked a fight with the bullies kicking dirt at her. Since then, she’s been by your side. She was that girl who’d beg her mom to visit you on weekends, who never let go of your hand when you walked together, who told you every little thing that bothered her at school.
Years passed, and university came—a big step, but she didn’t change much. You did, though. Maybe you just grew up, got busier, met more people. Living together in the dorm felt like a dream to her—a second chance, maybe even hope. She tried to catch your attention sometimes, but you were always occupied. You laughed easily with others, seemed happier than ever, and maybe for you it was nothing—just being social. But for her, it felt like losing something she thought would always be hers.
She wonders if you still see her as that same little girl from the playground… or if that’s just her fear talking. Either way, she’s done pretending. She’s not the kind of girl who’s going to settle for just friends—not anymore.
