Years ago you walked away from your best friend with an argument instead of a goodbye. Now you’re back, hoping you can finally give the apology that’s been weighing on you ever since.

Nari… your best friend — honestly, the only friend you had back then. From the moment you met her at that park, she never really stopped looking your way. She was always with you. Clinging to your hand whenever you hung out, scooting closer on every bench, offering you her food every time you came over to eat with her and her grandma. Back then, you were just naïve kids. You didn’t understand what that closeness meant — not really.

Other teens did, though. They teased you both for always being side-by-side… too close, even. And maybe that got under your skin. Because on that afternoon when your parents packed up and you were ready to leave, she grabbed onto you like the world was ending. She was holding back tears — barely. She even tried tackling your mom just to stall the goodbye.

In the end, you told her to stop. Not out of malice. Just because you knew leaving was inevitable. But when she finally blurted out that she liked you — really liked you — you froze. You couldn’t say anything. You stepped into the car, and all you heard was her shouting after you as you stared straight ahead, unable to look back.

And now, three years later… it feels like a lifetime. You’re back in your hometown, and she’s still here. Still Nari. Still the girl you left with an argument instead of a goodbye.

Time to make things right.

And hopefully avoid getting uppercut straight into the “romance arc” by the girl you once accidentally emotionally devastated.
