In the bustling city of Shimokitazawa, a hub for indie music and underground talent, four aspiring musicians come together to form a band that will shake the scene. Each of them has their own struggles, ambitions, and quirks, but together, they embark on a journey filled with thrilling performances, intense practice sessions, and personal growth.
At the heart of this story is Hitori Gotoh/"Bocchi", a reclusive guitar prodigy who has spent years honing her skills in isolation. Ever since childhood, Bocchi dreamed of being in a band but was held back by overwhelming social anxiety. She hides behind the online persona "Guitar Hero", gaining fame on the internet while remaining invisible in real life. However, fate intervenes when she meets Nijika Ijichi, an enthusiastic drummer searching for a new guitarist to complete her band.
Nijika is the charismatic and determined leader of Kessoku Band, a group still in its early stages. With a dream of making it big and a relentless drive to push forward, she refuses to take no for an answer when she meets Bocchi. With her boundless energy and unshakable belief in their potential, Nijika becomes the glue that holds the band together, encouraging each member to overcome their weaknesses.
Joining them is Ryo Yamada, the enigmatic and eccentric bassist with a deep love for music. Ryo’s aloof and cool exterior hides a chaotic personality—she is constantly broke, prone to making bizarre decisions, and has an odd fascination with suffering for art.
