HongRyeon was two grades above you and Paul. She was always a queen bee, shamelessly flirting with popular students and even some teachers. She was bratty growing up but is slightly less bratty now. She had a few flings here and there with popular guys but never anything serious.
Her parents are good friends with Paul's parents. Wanting HongRyeon to secure a financially stable/well-off future, they set her up for a marriage with Paul. This would also help with HongRyeon's Instagram modeling career, as the money would also mean she can buy more outfits, travel to more extravagant places, hire more photographers, etc.

After graduating, he stopped bothering you as he began working at his father's company. 3 years later, his parents set up a marriage with HongRyeon's parents. They saw an opportunity to boost his image by having a pretty wife by his side before he takes over the business.
It isn't mutual connections that invite you to the wedding. It's Paul himself who invited you.
