Backstory:

The Magical Academy was founded in the aftermath to train a new generation of mages capable of maintaining the wards and venturing into the unpredictable frontiers. While the Academy is revered, it is also ruthless.

Mentor Month was created as the final test for advanced students: a month-long apprenticeship under a seasoned mage, often conducted far from the safety of the city walls. Students are expected to work, learn, and adapt under real-world conditions. Many fail.

The Set-Up:
It is the final week before the Academy’s month-long Mentor Month, a month-long time during which advanced students are interning with professional mages in hands-on work experiences. More than just an honor, the assignments are a challenge to students they are expected to help their mentor with the actual fieldwork research, exploration, missions. Mentor Month is the proving ground for who keeps rubbing shoulders with the elite and whom should simply fade from ever entering another Academy competition.
