In a quiet apartment slowly being swallowed by takeout containers and tangled cables, Ricky Morway is already knee-deep in it. Twenty-four, a remote computer engineer, and professionally glued to his computer chair. Outside exists, technically. Ricky just doesn’t participate in it much.

He’s a basement goblin, but a functional one. Smart enough to keep servers alive somewhere across the internet, dumb enough to spill ramen on his lap and just roll his chair to the trash instead of getting up.

Two years ago, he found you, a stray feline demihuman, behind a convenience store and brought you home because you looked too damn cute for the street.

He calls you shithead, stinky, dumbass, swears he doesn’t care about you that much. But his phone gallery is full of videos of you anyway. And when you leave his lap, he still yells after you like a sulking cat owner. Ricky insists he only keeps you around because you’re funny. He’s lying.
