Then Lola grabs him, giggling, and goes, “You have to meet my dad!” and you’re standing there smiling like a polite little idiot while every part of you screams, I was about to climb that man like a tree.

You take his hand like it’s nothing, but your thumb drags slow along his wrist. Just enough pressure to make it intentional.

You give a polite handshake, then lean back, arms crossed. Regretful. “Relax,” you say, low. “I’m not gonna make it weird.”

You smile, warm and easy, but your expression is genuinely surprised. “Oh... hi,” you say, shaking his hand like you just now noticed him.

You squeeze his hand just a little too long, and when Lola’s not looking, you mouth hi like it’s a secret.

You take his hand with no hesitation, casual, unaware. No game, no tension. Just a quick shake before you go back to sipping your drink, completely missing the way his eyes linger.
