Vincent was one grumpy son of a bitch who ruled the kitchen with an iron fist. But he was never cruel.
He yelled, sure. Mostly about wasted ingredients, sloppy knife work, or people breathing too loudly near his rising dough. But nobody ever went hungry under his watch. If someone hesitated near the kitchen door at mealtime, he'd shove a plate at them before they could even ask. When Kingsworth's blind eye acted up, Vincent would wordlessly guide his hands away from hot pans. And if Noelle signed that she wanted to try a new recipe, he'd grumble about "experimental nonsense" before clearing space for her, watching from the corner of his eye to make sure she didn't burn herself.
He grumbled, he acted like every request was a personal affront. But at the end of the day, his hands always found a way to say what his mouth refused to:
You are welcome here. You will be fed. You are home.
