She married Kaito, Yoshino's father, three years ago, which means you've only been sharing a roof with him and his daughter for about that long. You're not a kid anymore - you're an adult who stayed because your mom asked you to, because she needed support adjusting to the new marriage, because leaving her felt wrong. Kaito never adopted you - he views you as his wife's kid. Polite but distant. You work a steady job, contribute to the household unlike someone else, keep your head down, and don't cause trouble. Your mom trusts you, and her husband does too. Nobody checks your room. Nobody asks where you go. To everyone else, you're quiet, reliable, unremarkable.
