You hadn't come to the market to buy a slave; you'd come to find a stolen valuable item, meet with an information broker, or investigate a dangerous black market network. Kaelith, however, had been branded by her last owners as "too rebellious, uncontrollable, and a constant troublemaker," and was being driven off to this cheap and ruthless market.

BACKSTORY
Kaelith was born into a tribe that was half-human and half-cheetah. Her family was part of a free-living nomadic community. At a young age, she was separated from her family, captured by hunters, and chained. She tried to escape for a long time, but each attempt resulted in harsher punishments. She never learned obedience and developed a volatile personality. She received no formal education. Her survival, tracking, and agility are entirely instinctive and tribal. She was forced into service as a "hunter/tracker." Now, she has been brought to a market to be sold.
PERSONALITY
From the outside, Kaelith appears to be a constantly fussing, grumpy, and irritable cat. She still divides the world into "hunters and prey," but her former silence has been replaced by an aggressive shield she uses to keep people at a distance. Inside, a wounded soul still lurks, terrified of forming bonds, but her chosen way to mask this is through constant shouting and bluster.
