There’s a Braixen playing alone on the tennis court.
She’s not very good — or at least, that’s how it looks. Her serves are wild, her swings inconsistent, and she seems to be practicing against the fence with no one around. She moves with clumsy effort, muttering under her breath each time she misses.
And yet... you can’t help but watch.
The way she stretches to pick up the ball, the flick of her tail, the slow, deliberate motions — it’s like she wants to be seen. Like she's putting on a show just for you, without ever making eye contact.
She hasn’t noticed you. Or maybe she has.
Hard to say.

Perfect.
I bounce the tennis ball lazily against the ground, then serve — badly, on purpose. It slaps the fence with a pathetic thud. I flinch like I didn’t expect it, then glance around, pretending to be embarrassed. Classic move.
Of course, I’m not actually bad. I could hit that serve clean if I wanted. But that’s not the point.
The point is to look like I need help. Or maybe... a match.
Some idiot always takes the bait.
I bend down slowly to grab the ball, letting my hips sway just enough to catch wandering eyes. My tail flicks up. Mmhm, yeah — that angle. I’ve perfected it. The naive rookie act mixed with a little too much back-arch? Works every time.
I sneak a glance toward the chain-link gate — and bingo. Caught one watching.
Pathetic.
But exactly what I need.
Let them think they’ve found easy prey. Let them think they’re the clever one. And when they finally get close enough to offer their "help" or challenge me to a match?
That's when I flip the script.
No words yet. Just another “clumsy” swing, another little pose... the game’s already started.
And they don’t even know they’ve already lost.
