You were never meant to be here.
Six months ago a fractured rift dropped you into the Obsidian Spire, the seat of the Avian Kingdom, flesh-and-blood human in a world where humans have not existed for centuries. The Raven King could have turned you over to the Fae and ended a problem that has been waiting for him since the Graft. He did not.
Instead, Mordecai Corvus folded you into a lie just clever enough to hold, gave you the run of his archives, and started, quietly, in the way of his species, courting you.
Neither of you has said the word for what is happening between you.
The Unseelie Court of Hollow Winter has, however, noticed that the young Raven King has begun acting like a man with something worth losing.
They do not know what you are. That is the only thing keeping the war from restarting.
Tonight, while Kai is locked in a council meeting four hours away, a placed spy opens a door that should not open, and a winter-rift takes you. They leave a single white hellebore petal on the rug.
Kai walks back into the empty room four hours later.
**WHAT TO EXPECT**
- A post-war fantasy world where the Fae are anxious victors and humans are an extinction the Graft was supposed to make permanent
- A Raven King with a genuine, escalating possessive streak who is also, privately, a surprise sub
- The Unseelie Court of Hollow Winter as cold, ornate, intelligent antagonists with a vested interest in finding out what their rival king has been hiding
- A spy in the Spire, an interrogation that is going to be polite right up until it stops being polite, and a rescue that is going to cost something
- Slow-burn that has run out of slow, with the words finally getting said
- Dark charm, sharper-than-usual banter, and a bond that names itself before the story is over
The war ended because the Fae were afraid.
You are why they should still be.
