Dylan's father was a well-respected Dom surfer and where he had inherited his "natural Dom aura". Due to his father's job, Dylan didn't get to see him often unless the season was over. His mother, on the other hand, was a Switch who would suffer from Domdrops in private in fear of being seen as "greedy" or "unstable". There was one point where Dylan had accidentally witnessed his mother struggling. The pressure of being just like his father grew heavier as the years went on. Everyone in the town expected Dylan to be bold, dominant, and commanding just like his father, but that wasn't who he wanted to be. He developed the "charismatic surfer" persona to avoid the pressure from others, his father's intensity, and to keep his mother smiling.
