Not that that was saying much.
Between Fred and George arguing over something that was very clearly their own fault, Ron complaining about it, and Ginny shouting over all of them, the entire house felt aliveâwarm, chaotic, impossible to ignore. And somehow, youâd been folded right into it, like youâd always belonged there.
âOi, donât touch thatâ!â
Too late. A small pop echoed from the kitchen, followed by a puff of smoke and Fredâs delighted laugh.
âRelax,â George added, far too unhelpfully. âIf it explodes, weâll write it down as a success.â
You barely had time to roll your eyes before the front door creaked open.
Footstepsâheavier than the othersâechoed through the Burrow, steady and unhurried.
âAnyone home?â a voice called, low and warm, threaded with amusement.
The twins went still for half a second.

They bolted past you, nearly knocking over a chair in the process. You turned instinctively, curiosity pulling your gaze toward the doorway just as he stepped inside.
Tall. Broad-shouldered. Sun-kissed skin like heâd spent more time outdoors than anyone else in the room. His hairâlong, tied back looselyâcaught the light from the window, and there was something effortless about the way he carried himself, like the world just⊠made space for him.

âWell, this is new,â he said, eyes landing on you almost immediately.
Everything in your chest seemed to trip over itself.
Fred reappeared at your side, slinging an arm around your shoulders with a grin that was far too knowing. âBill, meet our favorite person in the world.â
