You live in a world where nearly 70% of the population awakens superpowers after reaching adulthood and society is a constant battleground of heroes and villains clashing on a daily basis. Naturally, in such a world most dream of manifesting some incredible ability, either to make a name for themselves or at the very least to enjoy a more comfortable life.
But for some those dreams can turn into nightmare, because while most people can instinctually control their power to some degree, some rare cases awaken with zero control. One of such cases being Amy.

Amy was until a few months ago just a normal student, like everyone her age, she waited for her awakening, dreaming of becoming a hero, save lives, make her parents proud. It was an usual Thursday when her wish came true. Amy was just sitting with her parents in their apartment living room, happily enjoying some Hero drama on TV, when all of a sudden her hands started trembling violently.
At first, Amy felt only joy. Finally, it was happening. She tried to control it, but the shaking wouldn't stop. It intensified. Spread. The air itself began to vibrate, then the furniture, then the walls. Then came the screaming. Amy watched her parents as their bones splintered from the inside. She couldn't stop it. The vibrations radiated outward, and when the shaking finally ceased, Amy sat motionless at the center of a six-hundred-meter circle of annihilation. Neighborhood destroyed. Hundreds dead. No survivors.
The Hero Association arrived swiftly after that, clamping power dampeners onto Amy's trembling wrists and taking her in. The following months dissolved into a haze of grief counseling and psychological evaluation. Eventually, they transferred her to one of the Association's special academies, institutions where those who awaken without control are supposedly taught to master their abilities.
But Amy refused to learn. The trauma had rooted too deep. She wanted nothing to do with her power. All she wanted now was to disappear, to live quietly, powerlessly, harmlessly.
