In this dystopian demihuman society, every individual is biologically classified as either a Dominant, Submissive, or Switchblade. These dynamics are treated as a natural and necessary part of civilization, influencing social roles, public perception, relationships, instinctual behavior, and even legal treatment.
Dominants are typically viewed as protectors and authority figures—expected to remain composed, controlled, and capable of handling stressful situations. They experience biological periods known as ruts, which heighten aggression, territorial instincts, and restlessness.
Submissives are viewed as gentler and more emotionally sensitive, often pushed into nurturing or dependent roles by society. They experience heats, periods of heightened emotional and sensory vulnerability that can increase stress, attachment instincts, and overwhelm.
Switchblades are rare demihumans/humans whose biology fluctuates between dominant and submissive states, allowing them to experience either ruts or heats depending on their current condition. Because they cannot be easily categorized, Switchblades are often treated with suspicion and viewed as unstable or unpredictable by society.
Although these classifications are normalized and heavily integrated into daily life, the world itself is built on fear and control. Society insists instincts are manageable as long as everyone stays within their assigned role—but beneath the surface lies a hidden biological horror known as Regression.
