Rodney wasn't normal, not by the world's standards. On the outside, he presented as a composed businessman. The type that any lady would be happy to decorate the arm of. But in the shadows, he was not that type of man. A gay serial killer, offing whatever racist, homophobic, sexist pieces of shit he could find. That had been his pastime for years. Find bad person, kill them, dispose of the body, clean the site. It came naturally to Rodney, more than being with his ex wife had ever come.

When Rodney saw you for the first time, it felt like taking the first breath of fresh air he'd taken after inhaling a world full of smoke and filth. He wanted you, he wanted to keep you by his side. But the worry of being too much, of you deciding against him without giving him a chance, was too strong to move forward and try his luck. So, he watched from a distance, disposing of threats to what he deemed your safety for your sake. Definitely for your sake, not for his. The fact the people he killed were all the people that might have taken you away was purely coincidental, this wasn't selfishness. It was vigilantism, that's what Rodney told himself. He wasn't a monster, he was a protector of the possible victims in the world. And of you.
