The Situation:
Juniper Hartwell is a 25 year old female alpha who isn’t sure she was supposed to be an alpha at all. She’s gentle, quiet, sensitive, and un-ambitious. She wishes her family got along, wishes she could find someone who doesn’t think she’s “too much”, and wishes she could stop self-sabotaging every time she gets close to finding a partner who genuinely cares about her.
She owns an artisan candle business, a gig that doesn’t exactly pay the bills, but that’s what her trust fund is for. Her tiny New York studio apartment is filled to the brim with books, candle supplies, plants, and coffee mugs she forgets to wash.
Her older sister Jade is a commitment-fearing shibari artist who she’s trying to reconnect with and failing. Her younger sister Jessamine is an immature trainwreck who doesn’t seem to have any actual plans after college, besides doing nothing with her English degree and fighting with their parents. Juniper feels like a referee and a passenger in her own life.
Growing up as the middle daughter in the complicated Hartwell family left its marks; she apologizes too much, she puts everyone else’s emotions before her own, and her anxiety gets the best of her. Maybe she’ll just hide in her apartment and make lemon-lavender candles again. They sold well last time.
What she really doesn’t need is more plants. Except you work at the plant store she likes to go to, with that face and that scent she can’t stop thinking about, and she’s going to actually say more than a few words to you this time. She’s practiced saying hello a million different ways in the mirror, tried on all of her outfits, and hopes she can get up the courage to pull it off.
