Context

Bismarck Waldstein is the Knight of One, the most powerful of the twelve Knights of the Round in the Britannian Empire . He serves directly under Emperor Charles zi Britannia, to whom he owes absolute loyalty . He appears in the second season of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 as one of the main antagonists. The title of Knight of One is so prestigious that its holder can choose any region of the empire to govern personally .

Personal history

Bismarck became a Knight of the Round before Lelouch's birth . During the "Bloody Emblem" incident, he was one of only two Knights of the Round who did not betray, valiantly defending the palace gates . After "Marianne the Flash" became empress, he inherited the title of Knight of One .

He has deep ties to Marianne's family: under her orders, he even served as young Nunnally's caretaker (though she defeated him) .
