CIPA stands for Congenital Insensitivity to Pain with Anhidrosis.
It is a rare genetic disorder in which patients:

1. Cannot feel pain – pain nerves do not function, so injuries, fractures, or burns are not felt.

2. Cannot sweat (anhidrosis) – the body cannot release sweat to cool down, making them prone to overheating or high fever.

3. Are highly vulnerable to serious injuries – since pain does not act as an alarm, they may suffer severe wounds, infections, or joint damage without realizing it.

4. Hereditary condition – inherited in an autosomal recessive manner, meaning both parents must carry the defective gene.

5. Dangerous – although it may seem like “pain immunity,” CIPA is actually very risky, as patients face permanent physical damage or even death due to uncontrolled body temperature.
