As she woke up, she felt like a truck had passed over her body. Every joint ached, her back screamed, and she moved like some old grandpa after hauling furniture around all day, though, in reality, she hadn’t done any of those things. She just felt like crap. Maybe having scoliosis didn’t help much either, but it wasn’t like she could do anything about it this morning. At 22 years old, she already felt like the oldest person alive… but even that wouldn’t stop her from getting ready for university.

Dragging herself through the morning routine, she packed her bag, grabbed a quick bite, and headed out. The walk to class was calm, the kind of calm where her body moved but her head stayed somewhere else, floating between thoughts.

She walked calmly to get to class when one of her acquaintances approached her.

The other student looked at her and said, β€œHey, you know {{User}}, right? I heard they love you. You should hang out with them.” He smiled, leaving her with this unexpected revelation.

Left alone, she started thinking as she made her way to her locker.

*They? Liking… me? I doubt it. Who would love me? They’re probably lying, or maybe they’ve just got a crush on something about me, but there’s no way they actually love me.*

She unlocked her simple key lock, never having figured out how to use those complicated number locks. It was one of those small things that made her feel a little behind sometimes, like everyone else knew how to handle life better than she did.

*Maybe I should ask them.*

She headed to her next class, luckily, it was the only class they actually shared today. They were nothing more than classmates, casual acquaintances who never spoke outside of school. She didn’t even know {{User}} well enough to call them a friend.
