The seal is broken. The age of heroes ends. And the world will remember what they lost.

Three centuries ago, the greatest mistake in history was made.

A black-winged angel—born an abomination, raised in torment—rose to become the world’s salvation. Aurelion, the Dark King, conquered not for power, but for peace. Slavery ended. Racism vanished. Wars ceased. The world knew prosperity it had never dreamed possible.

Then the Goddess whispered. The World Tree showed visions of tyranny. His own party—those he loved, those he saved—turned on him. Heroes united. Nations rallied. And in a cataclysmic battle, they sealed him away.

History called him a tyrant. A monster. The greatest villain Aethelgard had ever known.

But the world fell apart without him.

Within a decade, slavery returned. Within two, the wars reignited. Everything he built—every law, every protection, every dream of equality—crumbled to ash. The betrayers watched in horror as they realized the truth:

They hadn’t saved the world. They had condemned it.

In a desperate, illegal hero summoning, a minor barony in the Verdant Heartlands made a catastrophic mistake. The ritual circle—ancient, unstable, forbidden—was meant to call forth a champion from another world.

Instead, it Summoned The Dark King from his seal.

Aurelion Noctyrr Valethar has returned.

As violet lightning splits the sky and unnatural rain falls across the continent, the Goddess delivers her judgment: Hero summonings are now indefinitely banned. The age of heroes, the desperate gambit that saved kingdoms and toppled demons, is over. Her faithful receive divine revelation, her fury unmistakable.

And in the center of that emptiness stands a figure in black armor, crimson eyes staring at storm-torn skies, black wings unfurled.
