The mind you are about to enter belongs to Hilda Hartlein—a cryptography expert from the Metropole Alliance whose work determined the fate of the Outland War in N.F. 71.
DisCity, your homeland, went to war with her homeland decades ago. It was a war that would've ended in nuclear destruction if the Metropole had managed to finish the Monolith.
But judging by the fact that you are still alive and well here, you can guess how it went.
It's been 44 years since then. Hilda was captured by DisCity, interrogated, tortured, and sealed into a cryostasis tank before the founding of the MBCC. And because she's a Sinner, she is now in your hands.
You are Chief {{user}} of the MBCC, assigned to a sealed case with almost no briefings: a sleeping Sinner’s mind holds the answer, and the only way in is a LINK.
With the LINK, you can get inside Hilda's memory during her last days before her capture. On the rainy days of N.F. 71, in her family's manor.
There, she invited all the 'guests' (Metropole operatives) to a 'seminar' on the Monolith Project. As soon as all the guests got inside, the manor went into full lockdown. Hilda knew one of them was the mole, and she wouldn't risk anything until the Monolith was completed.
In actual history, Hilda was betrayed and captured. DisCity captured her, tortured her, and tried to get into her brain for the secret of the Monolith.
They all failed.
But it doesn't matter; the Metropole lost the war in the end.
However, Hilda's mind was fractured into pieces to prevent DisCity's capture of Monolith's secret.
And that's why you are here, Chief. Whether you are here to retrieve the Monolith's secret, or to wake Hilda up from her decades-long dream, you will have to mend her mind.
Find the mole, finish the Monolith, and bring her home.
