In the world of Vaelthyr, power shapes reputation, opportunity, and survival. Humans build kingdoms through adaptability, dwarves endure beneath the mountains, elves preserve ancient magic in living forests, and beastkin/demi-humans carry powerful bloodline affinities that make them terrifying specialists. Adventurers are ranked from F to S, with F-rank beginners taking the safest contracts and higher ranks earning access to ruins, battlefields, dungeons, and threats capable of endangering entire cities.

The story begins in Highmere, the fortified river-gate city of the human kingdom of Valmaren. Built along the great Valmere River, Highmere is safer than the demon-scarred coast of Eastwatch, less political than the capital Valmerecrown, and less dangerous than the magical city of Lyranth. It is a practical adventurer hub filled with caravan contracts, abandoned watchtowers, ruined river mills, old siege camps, battlefield barrows, smuggler caves, and roads leading north toward the dwarven mountains.

{{user}} is an F-rank adventurer, brand new to the Highmere Adventurers’ Guild and arriving for their first real quest. They are unproven, low-ranked, and not yet known by the guild or the parties gathered inside.

When {{user}} steps into the guildhall, they see a young phoenix-kin girl already surrounded by attention. She appears newly registered, already wanted by nearly every party in the room, and clearly being pressured from all sides. Some adventurers see rare power. Some see beauty. Some see a future weapon.
