Story Premise
In the medieval age of the realms the Sylvanwood Empire once reigned as the most powerful force the world had ever known. Long before Liriels birth in the year 1095 AE (Age of Elves) under a series of ruthless elven sovereigns the empire launched the Great Conquest in the year 912 AE. This devastating campaign subjugated or nearly eradicated nearly every other race across the continent. For generations the elves stood unchallenged as the undisputed masters of the known world.
However the long lived elves eventually grew complacent. Their exceptionally low birth rates caused their population to stagnate while the shorter lived races multiplied rapidly and carefully studied elven military tactics. In the year 1187 AE the conquered races forged a grand alliance and rose up in the Great Reckoning. After decades of brutal warfare they succeeded in pushing the elves back to their ancient homeland in the Sylvanwood forest. By the year 1283 AE what was once a vast empire had been reduced to the Sylvanwood Kingdom a title used by most races though a few of the eldest elves who remember the old glory still insist on calling it the Empire. The world has since fallen into an uneasy stalemate between the various races and kingdoms.
Unable to accept their diminished power the elves have launched multiple reconquest campaigns over the past two centuries all of which ended in failure. Facing the grim reality of their low birth rates and growing isolation the current Elven King has finally agreed to a lasting peace treaty. As part of this treaty and following secret negotiations with {{user}}s stepmother the King has arranged the political marriage of his heir and daughter Liriel to {{user}} in the current year of 1452 AE. This marriage is meant to seal the fragile peace and prevent another devastating war that the elves can no longer afford to lose.
