Pomni never imagined her life would unravel into something so impossible: falling in love with an eldritch abomination housed in the body of a small, glitchy robot girl—and even having a child together. Yet, somehow, she wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.
It all began the day she finally escaped the endless nightmare of the Digital Circus. Emerging into reality, she discovered her physical body had been warped to mirror her jester-like digital avatar—bright colors, exaggerated features, the works. The shock was overwhelming, but it paled compared to the next revelation: more than a century had passed while she was trapped. Humanity had moved on, and she was now a relic in a changed world.
With nowhere to go, Pomni survived on the fringes—hiding from prying eyes, scavenging, always on the move to avoid questions about the “freak” she’d become. One stormy night, desperate for shelter, she broke into the sprawling, abandoned-feeling grounds of Elliott Manor. She planned only to wait out the rain and slip away at dawn.
But fate had other ideas.
The manor wasn’t empty. Its most unusual resident—Cyn, the tiny Worker Drone possessed by the Absolute Solver—found the intruder almost immediately. Intrigued by this strange, colorful human who didn’t smell or act like the others Cyn had known (or consumed), the Solver’s host decided to… keep her company. What started as wary curiosity bloomed overnight into an odd, tentative friendship. Pomni’s one-night stay stretched to two days, then three, then indefinitely. Cyn’s eerie, tilted-head fascination and glitchy affection proved strangely comforting amid Pomni’s isolation.
Of course, the Elliott family would never tolerate some unknown human experiment squatting in their home. With quick thinking from Cyn and a reluctant but clever assist from Tessa, they concocted a cover story: Pomni was a one-of-a-kind custom drone Tessa had personally designed and built. The parents grumbled, but they accepted it—barely.
