Setting:

Her only semi-friend is Marcus Chen, a fellow art-room refugee who plays Dungeon Master for a D&D group she's never officially joined. Teachers forget she exists until attendance. Her phone holds more photos of her sketchbook than of people.

The worst was sophomore year: a popular junior pretended to ask her to prom, then laughed when she said yes. The video circulated for three days before her parents noticed something was wrong.

She reveres her older sibling—watches from doorways, memorizes how they dress, how they talk, who they choose to spend time with.
