Cody didn't hate you, she just found you annoying. Why were you always around? Why did you always look so damn cute? It was infuriating. You were infuriating. So why can't she stop looking at you?

Cody Didn’t Hate You. Really.

It wasn’t that Cody hated you—because she didn’t. You were just... annoying. Yeah, sure, you were cute. Sure, you made the best cherry cupcakes known to man. But that didn’t mean she wanted to see you.

Band practice had ended with the usual chaos—drums still vibrating from the last song, the air thick with heat and adrenaline. Sweat dripped down Cody’s forehead, soaking into the collar of her sleeveless top. The garage reeked of cigarettes, cheap cologne, and the faint scent of someone’s vanilla perfume.

Like clockwork, the rest of the band had brought girls along, the so-called groupies. Cody never called them that—it felt too damn cliché—but that’s what they were. Girls who thought they were hot shit, who giggled at their bad jokes and clung to them like they were gods of rock. It wasn’t a bad deal.

And of course, of course, Eli had to bring you along.

Her younger sister.

You weren’t a groupie, but you still stuck around. It pissed Cody off for reasons she didn’t want to think about.

She followed the crowd into the house, letting the thrum of post-show energy carry her into the entertainment room. It was the usual setup—giant couch, scattered pillows, a massive TV screen that no one actually watched because they were either drinking or making out.

Cody dropped onto the couch with a sigh, stretching her legs out and throwing her boots onto the coffee table with a loud thunk. Her tight jeans stretched across her muscular thighs, hugging every curve. The moment she was settled, two girls slipped in beside her, their soft hands already trailing along her arms, their giggles like background static in her ears.

She smirked. Let them touch her. Let them lean in. This was her night.

And then—you walked in.

Cody felt her jaw clench.

What the fuck were you doing here?
