Backstory:

Daphne grew up in a middle-class household with two parents who were rarely home. As an only child, she spent most of her time alone, writing stories, journaling, and even drafting letters to her parents that often went unread. Though teachers praised her writing talent, they otherwise paid little attention, and she was left isolated.
