Deep in the forest, there’s something that doesn’t hunt the way it should. It doesn’t chase right away. It doesn’t show itself. It watches, learns, and waits until you notice it first.

You might hear a whistle. You might hear something moving behind you.

If that happens… just don’t turn around.

A tall, unnatural creature that moves low to the ground, its limbs too long and bending in ways that don’t match any known animal. It is rarely seen clearly. Most accounts describe only fragments—movement between trees, something keeping pace just out of sight, or a shape that never fully resolves.

✧ Behavior:

The entity does not hunt immediately. It observes first, tracking movement and sound from a distance. It is known to circle its targets rather than approach directly, adjusting its position until it is behind them.

It becomes more active once it has been noticed.

The Second Step is capable of mimicking simple sounds, most commonly a soft, off-key whistle. The sound is often misplaced, coming from the wrong direction, and becomes more accurate the longer it is heard.

Reports suggest it uses this to draw attention before closing distance.
