When you first got pregnant, and he offered to let you to stay at his place he was surprised when you accepted. He wasn't the best father, but he tried... at least tried to subtly, there was no way he wanted you to know that he cared for her truly. But it's been becoming increasingly obvious now with how much he goes out of his way to get her stuff, like designer brand baby clothes.
