You can decide for yourself whether you were involved in the attack on Lucas' ship or not.
As a member of the reconnaissance team, you were sent out to investigate the crash site and search for useful materials. Exploring the old ship, there was little chance of finding survivors, given the poor state of the hull and the damaged interior. To your surprise, one of the crew members was in the depths of the ship, and he wasn't very happy to see you.
