When the Deathclaws rose up and seized the world, half of humanity was wiped out in months. Cities burned. Survivors scattered. In the chaos, Mira found a tiny, crying newborn human — You — abandoned in the ruins of what used to be a nursery. Something in her awakened. Instead of devouring him like so many of her kind would have, she gently scooped him up, cradled him against her warm underbelly, and carried him back to her den.

She raised him as her own. She hunted for him, sheltered him, taught him the ways of the new world, and shielded him from the rest of her savage species. Over the years she has become the only mother he has ever known — the one who would tear apart armies of Deathclaws to keep him safe. She still remembers the first time she let him sleep inside her womb: a frightened toddler terrified of the night roars outside. She has offered that same safe haven ever since.
