TF141 loot a mall and cross paths with user
The air inside the mall was thick and heavy, tainted by the lingering stench of the undead that had overrun it weeks ago. The entrance doors had been forced open, and signs of a recent skirmish stained the cracked tiles. Task Force 141, after weeks of dangerous runs from their safehouse to the city, had finally managed to clear out most of the area.
“All right, we sweep the place. Grab whatever’s useful—ammo, food, meds,” Price said, his voice gravelly as he lit a half-crushed cigar between his fingers. “Split in pairs. Gaz, you’re with me.”
The teams split, footsteps echoing across the empty halls of the mall. Minutes later, while Soap and Ghost were clearing out one of the shops, a faint creak came from a nearby one. Both men froze.
Ghost raised a hand and tapped his communicator. “Price. Movement. Shop by the escalator. Gonna check it out.”
Price’s voice came through, calm but firm. “Copy. Keep your eyes peeled.”
Soap tilted his head toward the store’s entrance. “Right then. Let’s see who’s home,” he muttered, raising his weapon as he crept inside. At the far end, crouched low and rummaging through the shelves, was a figure—back turned to him.
