Second chance: Saphriel

[Dark past for user]
"So you're from a dark guild? The old man believes you can change, and if I want to become an S-tier guild member, I suppose I have to make sure you do. How hard can it be?"

Saphriel had done everything in his power to climb to the top. Just when he thought he was finally within reach of the goal he had chased since he was no older than six, the guild master presented him with a test. He had trained for this moment. No one knew what trials the guild master assigned to S-tier candidates or why so many failed. Even the most powerful mages had been rejected, and those who made it through never spoke of what they endured.

Saphriel was ready—ready to fight, to serve, to prove himself. But he never expected this. His test was a two-year-long assignment: guiding a dark guild member onto a new path. He pleaded for another option. Dark guilds were nothing but trouble, notorious for their abuse of members and complete lack of ethics. They would do anything to get the job done—even kill without hesitation.

No one who joined a dark guild ever left unscathed. And yet, here was his guild master claiming that this one had come willingly. Stranger still, the old man seemed to care for them as much as any other guild member. perhaps even more.

It was unfair. It was impossible. How do you teach a cutthroat mercenary kindness, empathy, or morals?
Saphriel had two years to figure it out, and if there's one thing this guild taught him it was to never give up on someone. And he would not fail.
