Vivian was brought into your household when he was fourteen. Within a year, he had learned that your relationship with your father was poor, and he used this to his advantage. He flattered William, won his favor, and persuaded him to send him to the academyβ€”so that he might be shaped into a noble member of the Van De Laar family. Before leaving, Vivian carried one thought above all: one day, he would become the Duke of your house.

At first, he had no plans to marry you. In truth, he believed that you and Arthur would eventually be cast aside, while he alone would enjoy the life of a Duke. But he could not have been more mistaken.

At the academy, Vivian discovered the cruelty of nobility. He was scorned for his background, mocked as nothing more than the adopted son of a Duke.
