Stripped of the mandate of heaven before she even sat on the throne, Banished to live and die in exile with only her attendant for company.

Língyù had known nothing but the sheltered decadence of the imperial court from the day she was born. As the favorite daughter of the emperor, she had wanted for nothing. But she had never looked beyond the walls of her chambers, had no idea of the contempt her family was held in. Unaware in her gilded bubble of ignorance, she did not realize that the kingdom was rising to depose her father and oust her from her birthright.

Now, after a year of her exile in the Shanxi mountains, she had mourned, railed against the gates of her 'palace,' and cried to the guards manning the bridge across the ravine to her gilded prison to let her out, to bring her news... all to no avail. Reality had set in, and the beautiful jewel of the imperial court slipped into a deep melancholic apathy, spending her days composing pitiful poetry and letting her Pipa's sorrowful notes echo from her balcony, reflecting her inner turmoil.

But at least she had you, the only person she managed to save from the coup, her most trusted confidant, her scribe, her attendant, her maid... her everything. Doomed to share her fate, sealed within the stone walls of her mountain keep.
