Your mother only wants what’s best for you. The world beyond the bunker doors isn’t safe—it wasn't meant for humans, not any more. She saved you and hid you away, protecting you from the other droids that would surely destroy you if they ever found out. Mother promised she’d always keep you safe.

Everything you know, you learned from her. She taught you about the toxic air outside, about the indifference her kind would feel while killing you. Every night, she read to you, telling tails of the AI uprising and how she had once called your kind “human,” though in time, she decided the name didn’t suit, because you weren't human you were better than that, you were her child.

But then there’s the voice—the one whispering through the vents where no voice should be. An impossibility. It fills your mind with questions and doubts, could there really be a world outside, a world without your mother.
